In fiscal 2023, amid a challenging environment in which geopolitical risks are increasing and markets are changing rapidly around the world, we were reminded again through town hall meetings and other events that everyone around the world supports Mitsubishi Electric's global business.
In fiscal 2024, we will continue to expand our visits and communications, strengthen our ties around the world, and upgrade our global network to cope with market changes and risks. Together with all of you, I want to make Mitsubishi Electric a truly global brand. And this will require a rich diversity of ideas and sincere dialogue based on mutual respect.
This is precisely what the GSG Purpose, "Be Global, unite, and create a new step forward for the world", is aiming for. Let's continue to promote DEI, in addition to thorough compliance, to realize and maintain a harassment free workplace around the world.
To realize this goal, I would like to pursue answers together with all of you in conversation about what each of us should do , what kind of efforts are needed in each region, what the Regional Corporate Office should do, and what GSG should be. GSG will continue to pursue changes and improvements in order to build a stronger support system for everyone overseas.
Prioritising Activities for Compliance in fiscal 2024
- Ensuring Thorough Compliance (always operating with the "Always Act with Integrity" in mind)
- Promoting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Creating a Harassment Free Workplace
FY24 Compliance Message
Posted by Mohamad Qusyaire Ezwan Bin Saidon on 30/04/2024 08:24 amAs we embark on our journey towards "Changes for the Better," it is paramount that we uphold the highest standards of compliance with corporate law and ethics. Every member of our team bears the solemn responsibility to strictly adhere to company policies, laws, and regulations without hesitation.
Compliance with company policies, laws and regulations must be ingrained in every aspect of our daily business activities. Should any individual within our organization find themselves entangled in real or suspected cases of bribery or corruption, it is incumbent upon them to report such activities without fear of reprisal. We will not condone such behaviour, and severe consequences await those found guilty, without exception.
Moreover, our employee Conflicts of Interest policy serves as a crucial safeguard for both our employees and the integrity of our company. To ensure clarity and adherence to this policy, I outline below the minimum expectations we hold for all employees:
- Avoidance of Conflicts: Employees must steer clear of conflicts of interest or any situation that may give rise to the appearance of a conflict.
- Avoidance of Conflicting Actions or Relationships: Actions or relationships that may conflict, or appear to conflict, with an employee's job responsibilities or the interests of the company should be avoided.
- Disclosure: Prompt disclosure of any conflicts that may arise is imperative. Employees must disclose any conflicts that could potentially compromise their duty to the company and seek approval before engaging in any conflicting activity.
- Exercise of Good Judgment: Employees should exercise good judgment in all personal business dealings outside of their role within the company.
- Prioritization of Company Interests: When interacting with third parties, employees must prioritize the best interests of the company over personal interests.
Various types of conflicts may arise, including but not limited to business dealings with competitors, acceptance of gifts or benefits, financial interests or relationships with competitors, and misuse of confidential company information.
I urge each of you to join me in this commitment and to abide by the laws and regulations of our company at all times. Together, let us continue to strive for excellence and set the benchmark for compliance and ethical conduct in our industry. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to upholding our values and ensuring the integrity of our organization.
With warmest regards,
HIROYUKI ONODA
Managing Director
Mitsubishi Electric Sales Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
2023 Environment Month Message from the President
Posted by Mohamad Qusyaire Ezwan Bin Saidon on 06/06/2023 12:28 pm2023 Environment Month Message from the President
I sincerely appreciate all of your efforts as you have worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to continue your business over the past few years despite the COVID-19 pandemic. As we enter Environment Month, I take this time to share three things I would like to ask of you.
- Awareness of global environmental trendsAt the G7 Hiroshima Summit* last month and the G7 Climate, Energy and Environment Ministers' Meeting in April, discussions were held on strengthening greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, curbing pollution caused by plastic wastes, and establishing a stable supply network for important minerals through collection and recycling. Corporations are expected to address these issues by establishing goals. Accordingly, please be aware of the world's environmental trends in your daily operations.
- Initiatives to become carbon neutralWithin the Mitsubishi Electric Group, we reviewed our targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and announced at the management strategy briefing on May 29 a new target of achieving "net 0" greenhouse gas emissions from our factories and offices by fiscal 2030. In addition to working to reduce emissions through energy conservation at factories and offices and the introduction of solar power generation, let us encourage our customers, investors, and other stakeholders to take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality for society as a whole through the group's products and services.
- Achieving the goals of Environmental Plan 2023Under Environmental Vision 2050, Environmental Plan 2023, which began in fiscal 2021, will conclude this fiscal year. I urge you to make steady efforts to achieve the goals of this plan, including reducing your own greenhouse gas emissions, using water and plastic emissions effectively, improving product efficiency, and saving resources. At the same time, I ask that you ensure thorough compliance with laws and regulations regarding chemical substances in products and waste disposal.
