Compliance Message from Masahiro Oya, Group President of Global Strategic Planning & Marketing Group (GSG)

The series of Quality Assurance Issues uncovered in fiscal(FY) 21 were serious questions of the credibility of the Mitsubishi Electric Group, but they also gave us the opportunity to sincerely address the issues behind the problems.  Since then, we have overhauled our entire company structure and worked together to transform it to create a better company.  I would like to make FY 23 the year to start creating  a new era by continuing and further developing these initiatives to overseas affiliates.  GSG Purpose "Be Global, unite, and create a new step forward for the world" contains the spirit that "GSG drives Mitsubishi Electric Group's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)".  In corporate management, we believe that respecting DEI and maximising the diverse peculiarity of each employee will lead to higher value creation.  I believe that individuals and organisations can grow by embracing diversity rather than uniformity, and by respecting the various opinions and ideas that come from diversity.  In FY 23, in addition to complying with various laws and social norms, including competition and bribery regulations, human rights and labor-related laws and regulations, we request each of you to realise and maintain a workplace that is pleasant for everyone, with respect for each other and free from harassment.

Prioritizing Activities for Compliance in FY 23

  1. Ensuring Thorough Compliance (always operating with the "Always Act with Integrity" in mind).
  2. Promoting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  3. Creating a Harassment-Free Workplace

"Changes for the Better" represents Mitsubishi Electric's goal and attitude as a global leader in compliance with corporate law and ethics. MESM has and will always maintain zero-tolerance towards bribery and corruption in all forms that may result in reputational damage and business disruption.

Compliance is defined as a state of being in accordance with established guidelines and maintaining a full understanding of the law and its regulatory requirements. I encourage every individual to read and understand company's handbook on compliance and undergo a periodical compliance training if necessary for self-awareness of company's anti-bribery law and compliance.

It is sole duty of every employee of MESM to follow and strictly comply with company's policies, laws and regulations without questions. Compliance of Anti-Bribery law and regulation must be practised and observed by every employee of MESM when carrying out their daily business activities. Any individual within the Company who finds himself or herself being involved in real or suspected cases of bribery and corruption in the form of offering or receiving bribes to or from any public official, distributor, dealer, consultant or any other third party under the instruction by the perpetrator must report such activities without fear of intimidation. Such cases will not be tolerated nor treated with leniency to the perpetrator, for he or she shall be severely punished without negotiation.

I as the Managing Director of MESM, am personally committed and urging every employee to maintain highest ethics and integrity in executing daily activities and tasks and abide to the company's law and regulation at all times.

Thank you for your support and commitment.
